The system lets you and/or your service providers quickly navigate from a full enterprise view all the way down to individual sales ticket – and all points in-between. If you need to replace a terminal, we’ll ship you a new one overnight that will automatically download its menu and pricing profile. The CardSmith solution is a quantum leap from the legacy approach that can require two or more proprietary, campus-managed systems and significant staff resources just to support your meal plans.
Bookstore
We make it fast and easy to accept the campus ID card for payments at your campus bookstore. Our pre-configured “plug and play” terminal(s) can have your store up and running almost instantly. They are simple to operate and maintain and feature an off-line processing mode in the event that host communication is not available for any reason. Post installation, we provide professional support services to store managers and cashiers including real-time technical help, automated funds settlement, marketing and sales promotions, and more.
Vending
Our IP-ready card readers for soda, snack and specialty vending machines let students use their ID cards in vending machines in residence halls and across campus. CardSmith provides a complete solution for vending operators, from pre-installation to ongoing technical and operations support including hot swap, monthly reporting and automated settlement. Cashless vending increases sales volumes, eliminates coin and bill counting and increases reporting accuracy.
Retail
It’s fast and easy to accept the campus ID card and for payments at retail locations anywhere on-campus. We supply pre-configured “plug and play” IP terminals that can have any retail location up and running within minutes. Clients can also choose from Wireless or Dial-Up terminals or operate in off-line mode to take payments at remote locations or events. Credit card acceptance is supported from any retail terminal type or location. Post installation, we provide professional support services to store operators including technical help, automated funds settlement, marketing and promotion and more.
Pay-for-Print
Networked printers at libraries and throughout the campus can accept the campus ID for payment before releasing print jobs, helping save paper and supplies and control costs. Students swipe the card at a release station to authorize payment for selected jobs. Payment is automatically deducted from the ID card’s discretionary spending account once the job is complete. CardSmith’s processing system integrates with most popular print management software applications, and we continue to add new ones regularly.
Copy
IP-ready copy terminals enable students to swipe the ID card to make copies at copy centers and other campus locations. CardSmith provides a complete solution for copy center operators, from pre-installation to ongoing technical and operations support, monthly reporting and automated funds settlement. Copy centers can also be equipped with a retail terminal(s) to accept payments for other services.
Laundry
Our IP-ready solution for laundry rooms lets students use their ID cards at your laundry rooms to eliminate cash and coin operations. Room controllers are linked to individual washers and dryers enabling card-based operation of all machines. CardSmith provides a complete transaction management for laundry service operators, from pre-installation to ongoing technical and operations support. We offer an optional electronic alert service that sends email or text messages to let students know when machines are available or their loads are finished.
Off-Campus
CardSmith provides a turn-key campus merchant program management service that’s fully integrated with your program’s operation on-campus. This service is simply an extension of what we do on-campus, with no additional systems, accounts or requirements. Students and cardholders benefit from the ability to use the same pre-paid spending account they use on-campus to make purchases at off-campus businesses. Clients enjoy the benefit of receiving royalties from these purchases – without impacting on-campus systems or staff.
