Campus Cash® is a new program from CardSmith that enables reciprocal acceptance among the campus ID cards programs of all our higher education clients.  Students at any CardSmith-supported campus can use the pre-paid spending account on their ID card to make purchases at any accepting location on or around any of our client campuses, as well as selected e-commerce merchants.  The program works like national and regional payment networks that enable acceptance of cards from multiple issuers at a large number of participating merchants. 

Acceptance extends to on-campus locations like dining venues, bookstores, vending and laundry machines, copiers and printers – or anywhere the host campus enables acceptance of its own ID card.  Individual colleges and universities can choose which of the card-accepting locations on their campuses will accept cards issued by other institutions.  Settlement and reporting is consolidated for each merchant or accepting location, and acceptance requires only a single inexpensive card terminal.  The new Campus Cash “Welcomed” sticker indicates that the accepting location or merchant participates in the program. 

All CardSmith-managed campus card programs are automatically eligible to participate in Campus Cash.  New clients and their students have immediate access to a large and growing network of accepting locations on and off-campus.  Campus Cash is currently being rolled out in the Boston, Massachusetts metro area, including Boston, Cambridge and Newton.  It will be expanded to additional markets as CardSmith’s customer base grows in other college-centric locations around the country.
