Jay P. Summerall
President & Founder

Jay P. Summerall oversees the CardSmith enterprise. He is an experienced manager of people and of businesses ranging from start-ups to major corporate divisions, and has a track record of innovation and value creation within the campus card industry.  Prior to founding CardSmith, Jay was Chief Operating Officer of Student Advantage, Inc., and directed the development and growth of SA Cash – the first outsourced campus card solution. Prior to joining Student Advantage, he was General Manager of AT&T's College and University Solutions unit, managing the company's core consumer communications and card services for students and educational institutions. Jay began his AT&T career with AT&T Universal Card Services, a credit and calling card issuing subsidiary that won the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award in its third year of operations and became the largest issuer of MasterCard in the United States.

Taran Lent
Vice President & Co-Founder
Product Management and Development

Taran Lent is the architect of CardSmith’s product infrastructure and manages the people and systems that power CardSmith’s “SaaS” transaction solutions. He also helps develop and manage key business strategies and initiatives for the company. Taran is a campus card industry entrepreneur, pioneer and subject matter expert whose professional career has been dedicated to building and managing businesses in the electronic payments industry. Prior to co-founding CardSmith, Taran was Sr. Director of Product Management at Student Advantage, Inc., responsible for architecting and managing SA Cash's core transaction infrastructure. Prior to joining Student Advantage, he co-founded Transaction Service Providers, Inc., (TSP) a company that developed one of the first off-campus merchant payment programs in the nation at Dartmouth College. TSP was later acquired by Student Advantage, Inc.

Brian Farley
Vice President Business Development

Brian Farley is responsible for business development and client relations for CardSmith, and his passion for the business and the satisfaction of our customers is well known. He is a consummate professional who has helped bring business solutions to the education markets for nearly 20 years.   Prior to joining CardSmith, Brian represented Aramark’s facilities management service for higher education.  Previous to Aramark, he led sales and marketing for the SA Cash business at Student Advantage, helping take the business from scratch to market leadership in just 3 years. Brian was National Sales Director for AT&T College and University Solutions in the 1990’s, leading a team of account executives selling telecommunications and campus card solutions to colleges and universities nationwide. Brian is an active member of higher education trade associations NACAS, NACCU, NACUBO, SASA and CCBO.  He is a friend of higher education and strong and trusted customer advocate.

Ileen Chang
Vice President Finance & Administration

Ileen Chang manages the financial, corporate and administrative functions of CardSmith, and oversees our operations, supply chain and major business processes.  Ileen is an experienced financial and business professional with nearly 20 years of corporate managerial experience in disciplines including business planning and budgeting, marketing, product management and operations, as well as financial analysis.  She brings financial rigor, energy and commitment to CardSmith and its core disciplines. Prior to joining CardSmith in 2003, Ileen directed the team at Student Advantage, Inc. responsible for developing and managing the SA Cash business, and managed the business planning function other major lines of business. She started her career with AT&T in the Finance organization and supported business units in pricing and strategy, promotional and partnership marketing, network and capital investments analytics and major business case analyses.

Donna L. Franklin
Vice President Marketing & Communications

Donna Franklin manages marketing and communications for CardSmith and oversees a broad range of marketing initiatives for our client card programs. She is responsible for CardSmith’s corporate communications, and plays a key role in client services and support.  Donna is an accomplished marketing professional with a special expertise in student and parent marketing and the higher education marketplace. She has more than 15 years of experience providing communications services for education markets.  Prior to joining CardSmith in 2003, Donna was VP of Marketing for Student Advantage overseeing a portfolio of businesses including SA Cash, and managing a team of 15 people supporting other Student Advantage businesses. Prior to Student Advantage, she managed national campus card marketing initiatives for AT&T Corp.  She started her career with AT&T supporting the calling card business.

Shannon Andrews
Customer Solutions

Shannon Andrews joined the CardSmith Customer Solutions team in August, 2011 supporting client services and business and financial operations. In addition to providing customer services, she supports major clients, manages significant projects across the business, and helps oversee our Pennsylvania Operations Center. Shannon came to CardSmith from business services firm Pitney Bowes, Inc. where she spent ten years in client support services, business operations, and office management.

Lori Caffrey
Customer Solutions

Lori Caffrey works hand-in-hand with clients to create and deliver customized marketing and communications campaigns for card programs. She also supports our corporate marketing and communications initiatives (including this web site), assists in merchant marketing, and manages our trade show initiatives. Lori brings a wealth of expertise and talent to CardSmith in corporate, brand, and targeted marketing communications. She is experienced across all media channels, with an emphasis on college and youth marketing. Prior to joining CardSmith in 2007, Lori managed marketing communications programs for AT&T including 1-800 CALL ATT (for collect calls), AT&T WorldNet Service, and several targeted programs including the Military Market, Hotel and Truckstop Co-op Programs, and the College Market where she successfully launched the first ever co-branded AT&T Calling Card with Student Advantage.

Susannah Campbell
Customer Solutions

Susannah oversees customer relationship management for CardSmith, working directly with clients and our internal team to launch, manage and grow a wide variety of card programs and applications. She also oversees CardSmith’s merchant recruitment initiatives for off-campus programs. Susannah joined the company in 2008, and has quickly become integral to our core business and the success of client programs. She brings us over 18 years of operations management and client services experience in the Contact Center industry at ACS, LiveBridge and Genesis Financial Services in Portland, Oregon.  At ACS and LiveBridge, she actively participated and led the start-up and integration of call centers that serviced the payments market throughout the United States, Canada and Asia.  Responsibilities ranged from working on the floor plan and hiring, to product training and workforce solutions.

Angela Deon
Customer Solutions Associate

Angela Deon joined the CardSmith team in 2011 as a Customer Solutions Associate, supporting students, parents, merchants and clients. In addition to providing customer support, she manages emarketing and communication initiatives for client card programs and merchants. Angela is a 2011 graduate of Lebanon Valley College with a degree in Business Administration and minor in English Communications. In college, she interned in marketing and PR for a New Jersey consulting firm, and in marketing and social media for the Pennsylvania Visitors Bureau.

Shawn Edwards
Systems and Development

Shawn Edwards plays a critical role in CardSmith’s Systems and Development team in support of our transaction processing and business operations.  He is primarily responsible for managing and developing our core transaction systems and IT infrastructure.  Shawn monitors system and database performance, supports our Customer Solutions team in service delivery, and regularly develops system and service enhancements.  He has over a decade of experience working in the payment processing industry, in design, development, system architecture and operations.  Prior to joining CardSmith in 2010, Shawn managed operations, PCI certification and development assignments for Comdata, Inc. and Tranvia, Inc.   He supported the CardSmith business as a contractor at both those companies before coming in-house last year.

Amy Everitt
Customer Solutions

Amy Everitt is a key member of our Customer Solutions team, managing finance, business and marketing processes and directly supporting clients and customers. She is responsible for financial processes including price quotations, procurement management, invoicing, and month-end reporting, and also plays key roles in marketing and business operations. Amy is a proven manager dedicated to excellence and reliability in process and project management. She started with CardSmith in 2004 and has risen steadily through our ranks with a strong focus on customer service and client satisfaction. Prior to CardSmith, Amy was a Customer Service Representative and Office Manager for Resicom, Inc. a telecommunications management company serving the higher education market.

Joshua G. Fenton
Customer Solutions

Joshua Fenton manages CardSmith’s broad-ranging technical operations, supporting both internal and external clients in delivering our service. He is an expert in terminal operations, software applications, troubleshooting and client support, and provides a key operational link to our product management team. Joshua has extensive experience in the higher education markets and brings a strong focus on customer service and general problem solving to CardSmith’s clients, customers and suppliers. He brings invaluable support to client card programs and personnel both pre-and post-launch. Joshua has a spent 20 years working in information technology, having begun his career in software support to government end users, then in project management for imaging contractors to Fortune 100 corporations. He has been a key member of the CardSmith Customer Solutions team since 2004.

John M. Hammer
Business Development

John Hammer joined the CardSmith team in 2008 as a consultant, and now manages business development and customer relations for CardSmith's growing customer base in the southeastern US region. John has spent his entire career in sales and business development for a diverse set of businesses in Florida and the southeast. Prior to joining CardSmith, John spent his early career in the banking, mortgage origination and title insurance businesses. After leaving the banking industry he stayed in the real estate realm and went on to own and manage several title insurance agencies in the state of Florida.

Amy Keenan
Customer Solutions Associate

Amy Keenan joined the CardSmith team full-time in 2011 as a Customer Solutions Associate, supporting students, parents, merchants and clients. In addition to providing customer support, Amy manages daily financial and operational processes, provides sales support, provides client support, and manages projects across the business.  She graduated from West Chester University in 2011 with a degree in Management. Amy worked in a family business throughout much of her college career, and interned at CardSmith for most of 2010.

Garrett Meyer
Customer Solutions Associate

Garrett Meyer joined the CardSmith team in 2011 as a Customer Solutions Associate, supporting students, parents, merchants and clients. In addition, he manages CardSmith’s off-campus merchant recruitment, terminal deployment and merchant services, as well as client data reporting and business analytics.  Garrett is a 2011 graduate of St. Joseph’s University, with a degree in Finance and minor in Decisions Support Sciences.   In college, he worked as a manager at a men’s formalwear store and interned at mortgage banker First Rate Capital Corp.

David N. Minutella
Customer Solutions

David Minutella is a key member of our Customer Solutions team in Doylestown, PA, providing service to cardholders, parents, merchants and other stakeholders. He also manages daily business, marketing, and financial operations for the company. Since joining CardSmith in 2009, David has developed an expertise in terminal deployment, general management, troubleshooting and problem resolution. He is a 2009 graduate of St. Joseph’s University (PA) with a Bachelor of Science in Management. Prior to joining CardSmith, he worked in the nonprofit sector while attending college.

Ted Reveal
Systems and Development

Ted is responsible for managing POS application operations, interface certifications and new application development for CardSmith. He is a subject matter expert, with over a decade of industry experience for Point-of-Sale application development and certification. Before joining CardSmith in 2010, Ted managed the POS Application Development Department at Comdata Processing Systems, Tranvia, Inc, and Nobel Electronic Transfer. During his time at Tranvia, Inc. and Nobel Electronic Transfer, he also worked as the Customer Service Manager and Point-of-Sale Deployment Manager. Ted has expertise in management of point-of-sale application development and certification, third party application transaction certification, project management, and technical specification writing. Prior to his business career, Ted served in the United States Army for eight years as a Military Police Officer. He was active in multiple foreign military actions, and is a veteran of the first Gulf War.

Jenn Scarborough
Customer Solutions

Jenn Scarborough manages client and customer services and business operations in our Customer Solutions Center in Doylestown, PA. She helps manage our call center staff and directly supports our growing meal plan processing business, as well as providing direct client support. Jenn is an accomplished operations manager, and brings our team a dedication to client satisfaction and an eye for process improvement. Prior to joining CardSmith in 2010, Jenn was operations manager for Resicom Inc, a campus telecommunication management corporation. In addition to overseeing operations, she led the customer service team at Resicom, working directly with college and university administrators to deliver service to administrative users and dormitory residents.
